This old light hung in my great great grandmother's house. Still in good condition. Does anyone have any idea what this is worth? I have no idea and I'm trying to liquidate her estate. If it wasn't pink, we'd hang it in our house.
It is a nice hobnail glass lamp.I have a couple nice lamps on my page too.
I would keep this oil lamp. It's very easy to put it back to original or keep it just the way is. I think the hobnail lamp shade makes this lamp! It's beautiful! It's from your great grandmother's house. I wishI had something like that from my great grandmother! Hope I made you stop and do some thinking. Stop thinking about what it's worth. It's an awesome keepsake! Have a great day! :-)
What is the era of this type lamp and what is the proper name for a lamp like this?
It's a Counterbalance oil lamp. Around 1900's.
It could be as old as late 1800's. Most of these lamps were hung in kitchens because people didn't think they were fancy enough to be hanging in other parts of the house. There were more fancier versions. I think your lamp is cast iron. You can google it and it will tell you more and help with a value.
This lamp is absolutely beautiful...if you dont want to hang in house, buy another color dome lamp and change the look.....I would love to have it, so keep it and and tell the stories of your Grandmother to keep her memory alive.....
Love this lamp. You should keep it.
