Mikelv85, how could anyone forget those beautiful pieces Phil posted?! His postings caused me to be more aware of Sherman pieces!
Bladerunner22, I have looked hard to fine a necklace like mine on line but so far I have not seen one either. I keep looking :)

Phil is back! This is stunning! I wonder what that would have cost new? What year?

I hear they were selling some of their more expensive pieces for up to 50.00 at the time in the late 50's to 60's. That would be a fortune in todays money !~

I hate this set more and more, but if it were in my collection I would be ooohing and aaahing the piece to no end ! This has my jealousy meter bursting...

The larger stones on this dramatic piece are REVERSE SET, which means backwards and in your photo,I see they used 10-12 prongs just to mount (set) them !! Astonishing !!~

This also falls under the category of Sherman's distinctive and consistent use of particular findings, such as flower clasps, double, triple or quadruple marquise set ends, and extenders with 5 beads such as this set.

This beautiful set of yours uses some very large extravagant stones, as I said REVERSE SET, so time consuming. Considering the construction, and number and type of stones used, this would have been an expensive set to produce. I believe this set is more spectacular than similar constructed ones in THE book on Sherman, and they do not seem to have one of these pictured which gives creedence to the rarity !!~ The signature must be later 50's to early sixties but closer to the old stone settings, where they might have used more labour intensive stones to mount !

PhilDMorris, thanks so much for your comments. I really appreciate it! If someone knows about Sherman, it is you! Thinking back a few years, I am sure it was thanks to you that I started to look for Sherman pieces, too. I have a few now but it is hard to find them for a good price.

I don't know what you mean by a good price, but would be interesting to know what you paid for this piece. The ones going on etsy etc are very high in price. Sandra has some of her pieces for sale on that site, so she demands good money for any Sherman necklace and she offers nothing like this. I have not found a deal now for some time and last time was probably when Mani found the set for me. Did you buy this one in an antique shop or store ?

PhilDMorris, thanks again for your comment. I found this one in Value Village in Brampton some time ago. I remember that it wasn't cheap for their pieces; somehow they must have been aware of the meaning of Sherman. I had a 30%off coupon and still paid around $40 or $50 dollars (Canadian) but I really had to have it. Based on what I have seen on line, it was a good price:)
I saw the perfect matching bracelet in the Aberfoyle Antique Market in October but they were asking $500. They were willing to deal but I wasn't in the mood.
Recently, I found some really nice Sherman earrings for $1, and two brooches for $3.99 and $2.00. So, sometimes I find a good deal. I will post them later.
