Nice image-- love the cameo on the collar!

Is the image itself on glass? If on glass it would be an ambrotype.

I thought it had some appearances of being on glass. It would correctly be called an ambrotype. Ambrotypes were contemporaries of tintypes, produced in the US from about 1855- 1865.

In the UK and other countries, ambrotypes were produced much later into the 19th century; however, I believe your image is from early production.

      Thanks for sharing!
