    Hi
    Everyone.
Just receive this beauty yesterday, described by the seller as a Loetz oil spot iridescent with pampas decor, this is my first sign piece from Austria, the signature look original, BUT IT'S NOT, when i look with some seeing online, this mark missing the small little oscillating line, left by the engraving tool, but because i don't have another in my collection to compare, i have being cut with it, now i am sure it's a fake mark, i have learn something with this, just wait for your comment on that one.

Seller description" Absolutely stunning oil spot Art Glass Vase Signed "LOETZ AUSTRIA"Authentic wheel cut signature 7" Tall, 5" wide
Signature dates this piece between 1898 and 1903. Comes from a collector in New England. Authentic signature."

This vase stand 7 inch tall, 4 inch at the widest area, on a 3 inch base.

How do you know it's fake signature ?? other then you mention Kralik house.
I would love to know, how did you come to fake mark ??

Alan, Frank is correct. This is not Loetz, so the mark must be fake. Having said that, look at the loetz.com website under "identifying" and look at the signatures on there, then compare to yours. Or my own website where I have a page for marks and signatures. The correct signature would have been done with a wheel, held so the it spins vertically, leaving parallel lines in the signature. A modern etched mark is smooth, lacking in those wheel-cut marks.

Happy to help, Alan. Authentic signatures are nice, but never buy a signature. First authenticate the maker, and if you like it for what it is, then buy it. I have a few authentic Loetz pieces with fake Loetz signatures on them. The fake mark actually hurts the value on those, and they are usually too deep to have polished away.
