This 9" tall French vase by Legras dates to about 1908, and I was lucky enough to come across it listed in the 1908 Legras catalog (image 2). It is the 'Vase Burgos' in dark green (vert foncé), with the enamel decor of thistles (chardons). It has three pinched sides, a thickly enameled flower head with gilded leaves, and frosty finer enamel work all around the vase, including the mouth. I think the frosty ethereal nature of the enamel work is particularly fitting for thistles, with their silvery-green leaves. This is one of several green Legras vases I will be posting on CW today.
A veritable garden of delights today, Michelle, thank you!
My pleasure, Peggy - thanks for looking! :)
And this one is the best-est...really like this one!!...:-)
Thanks so much, inky - it is my favorite of the three, too! :)
Very, very nice Michelle! Isn't exciting when you find one of your pieces has been documented?
Hi Rick, it is!! I love to be able to read any available details that are included, and it is great to get a really accurate date on a piece, too. :)
