A Loetz Cephalonia vase in my collection. Circa 1904. 5" tall. 2.25" across base. This one has a spurious "L.C.T." scratched into the base. It has a Candia ground with gold flecks. Cephalonia was created to resemble ancient glass. There are two types of Cephalonia decor — with and without patina. This is an example of without patina. With patina has a green (verdigris) on it as well. I'm told it is a very hard to find decor. I feel fortunate to have it in my collection. PN unknown.
This is very much an underappreciated decor in my opinion. Much better experienced in hand to view the complexities of the technique. Fine example.
Thank you, Tony. I agree 100%. I hope I'm lucky enough to find more pieces in the future.
