This Case Gin bottle was dug in a 1880's swamp dump. The dump was a few miles away from the city of Savannah. A tough place to dig !!!!! Thick with thorny vegetation a lot of bitting bugs and deadly Water Moccasin's.

On your later post, I questioned the dates of these bottles. Thinking they are much earlier, can you point me in the best direction for info.? We found these style bottles in much older sites, I believe.

These case gins that are posted are smooth base bottles from late 1860's to 1890's . The older ones will have different types of pontil marks on the bottom of the bottles 1860's to the very early 1700's. The style has not changed much except for the top and bottom and size of the bottle. The black glass has been the same for a long time with a few exceptions.

Siz, I moved from Statia in (?). Let's guess at '88? It was a real paradise before the Russian Jew put in the oil terminal. After that, we had "instant crime". Crude oil could not be taken into the U.S. directly by Soviet ships. An oil terminal was built to store the oil until it could be picked up by approved ships. U.S. politicians were full aware of this & made $millions, unless they were stupid! Statia is ruined now! Nothing but corruption from an innocent, care-free island.
