very unusual early asian silk and wood picture

very early unusal asian picture it is a solid piece of wood then a piece of brownish silk over the wood then a piece of black silk centered over the brown silk . then the cow and man and whatever it is on the right side of picture are etched out of paper thin wood. dont know if its bamboo or what but it is paper thin wood. any info on this picture would be greatly appreciated.
