This necklace does not have a makers mark but I was told it was a Native American silver smith that made it. To me it looks like an egg with a feathered claw coming out of it. I found that turtle eggs are round so maybe it is a turtle claw. The necklace measures 4.5 inches I.D., the egg is about 2.5 inches in diameter.

What a fascinating necklace!! From where did you get it?

Efesgirl, I actually bought this along with several pieces from the same silversmith from a gold and silver dealer closing up shop.

It's a shame there were no original purchase records for this necklace. I've never seen anything like it.

Do you any idea what this piece may represent? I will be going to New Mexico in December and I will be taking this along with several other pieces to see if I can find anything about these items.
