    I would really like to know what make/patter/age this is. It's my favorite cake plate because it has the hobstar cut and rose etching. If feels to be cut glass to me as opposed to pressed.

      cut glass is very often hard to attribute unless you can find a maker's mark, which are often very tiny and difficult to find.

      where might I look for a mark? Any examples?

      I'm not familiar with ABP glass but understand that marks can be very hard to locate and often require a loop. Here is one CW post with a Hawkes mark and there may e others:

      If this has tall sides, 3" or so, it is not a cake plate. Also, due to the rim cutting and
      the center of the hobstars, this is most likely something from Europe. However, I am going to post the photo in my cut glass group and we may get a different answer.
