Here's another doll from an estate sale doll lot i recently aquired, my most favorite one. After extensive research i still have more questions than answers about her. I know she's a Madame Alexander (marked Alexander on the back of her head). Since she has a detachable mesh wig, she is most likely Winnie Walker (per Doll Reference site) with Cissy face. Does anyone know:
    What year she is from?
Do these clothes belong to her?
Do they even look like Madame Alexander clothes? They are not tagged and the craftsmanship is not really that great...edges are not aligned and not finished, folds of the sleeves are not sewn in, etc. I'm not an expert in MA clothes, and i only have the other MA doll to compare this one to, Elise, and her clothes are made way better and more meticulously than this one. Help!

All MA clothes are tagged and this is not their quality. Does her head turn side to side when legs are moved ?

Madame Alexander Winnie Walker Cissy Face not in original clothes 1953-55. I would say she 18 inch size . Very nice find . Now to find original clothes for her :-)

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Manikin. I'm sorry for asking dozens of questions, but where can i find what she is supposed to look like originally? The reference books on MA dolls, according to some disappointed reviewers on Amazon, don't usually include Winnie Walkers. And who could make the clothes that are on her now, hypothetically? While it's not MA's quality, they are made with some level of skill, with metal snaps attached, etc. Also, you mentioned that all MA clothes are tagged, but the other doll's clothes i have, Elise, are not tagged but they seem original (pink nylon shirt dress, underskirt, panties, stockings). Could the tag be removed?

Her In original clothes . MA never used a donut snap for one . Several companies did and off brand companies but MA never used it . It maybe Uneeda Co outfit or any number of others . I would like to see your dress on Elise I can tell you if original most of the time by photo . She always tagged clothes not to say tag was not cut off but are usually still there .

Manikin, i don't know how to thank you enough!
So, it is the one and only outfit that belongs to her and that's what i should be looking for, right?
I will post Elise separately so you could identify if her clothes are authentic. Also, she has a bizarre damage to her eyes, and i thought you might be able to tell me what happened there and if it's repairable in any way.
      Thank you again!!!

Can you find a dressmaker wh0 specializes in dolls' clothes in your area? Would that be suitable?
    13. Manikin Manikin, 9 years ago
Much of value of doll is original clothes . Remade would not increase value :-( Collectors want all original doll to get good price . To find her original clothes alone would be costly . I would find her a similar dress on ebay or something well made if I was re- dresing her ,
    14. AnnaB AnnaB, 9 years ago
      Hi Gillian,
Yes, i know someone who can make doll's clothes and i'm not bad at that myself, but the idea here, i think, is to keep the doll as authentic as possible. I have to look into how much the MA WW clothes are sold for, but making new ones for her would be probably close to that, price-wise.
    15. AnnaB AnnaB, 9 years ago
Manikin, by "similar dress or something well made" do you mean that they still need to be MA-made clothes, just maybe a different outfit? But even then, I imagine a collector or someone like you would immediately tell that the clothes are not original to her...?
    16. Manikin Manikin, 9 years ago
Yes MA collectors will know he difference . They sell some well made factory clothes on ebay it would make her look more expensive but she will never bring price of all original doll . Should be correct for the 1950s not new but vintage. MA vintage clothes are not cheap you may have more money in her than she is worth although some of the 70's MA clothes are cheaper but they are so wrong for her .
