Over Thanksgiving, we went to South Florida to buy a sofa table from a person on Craigslist. When we got there, he was also selling this very heavy brass lamp. The lampshade is also brass, with Crystals that have been soldered into it. He said his parents bought it around 1960 in the New Jersey/Philadelphia area.
We have never seen a lamp like this before but I think it is maybe a GIM lamp since one piece has GIM 152 on it. We would like to know what company made this lamp. It is 35" tall from the bottom of the base to the top of the finial on top.
It looks older than the 60's
I agree with aissia; I'm no expert but this looks way older than 1960. Love this lamp!
I love these lamps also but from 1967 to the 70's they were popular. I seen a lot on the web but usually the info on the web disappears when they sell. A lot of them with these prisms were made in Italy. They also made numerous unusual tables that the lamps went on, and sometimes the tables were electrified. The tables were made of wood metal and combos of some really cool looks with poured ceramic plaster models. They made a lot of different models and usually hard to find an exact match, but as I said the info disappears when people pull it off the computer. I was actively searching the back alleys and a lot of them ended up in the back alleys or garage sales in the 1990's. Almost all of this era's lamps were not marked at all. Sometimes the tables used excellent Italian marble and the marble is usually marked Italy. I bought some 24 inch round marble tops from those garage sale that used some of the rarer marble. I think a lot would look better if someone attached a dimmer switch !~
