I think that this is a very old tea pot - first half of the 19th century - maybe 1815-1840? it's just a hunch, so i'd love to learn from you all! please educate me about luster pottery. I glued the handle back on.

Oh man, I saw two of those jugs at a shop and thought they might be special but didn't go for them. Are there modern repros of these? That's what made me hesitate.
thank you vetraio50, Efes, katherine! yes, Efes - a very similar one! this one has the cool dolphin handle and 'Poseidon' spout. mine also has a really nice beaded cover w/ nice knob.
I got in the neighborhood, anyway. I did an image search but didn't find any exactly like yours.
