Alan, this post is for you in regards to the POST you had up of the "Truncated Loetz Candia Papillion Vase circa 1900". It happens to us all
Yes, Glass is a learning thing. You can not learn it all in a few months. As I bought an item that WAS not what it was. Here is some things the seller did not do:
~ Did not have pics from all angles
~ Told me it was perfect, and I had not seen one like it before so how did I know......and did not say a things about all the problems at all!!!!!!!
When I got it -- it HAD been fixed on the bottom as it must have had a chip there. What did I think it was -- Was done in the making process and something was just taken (fixed) when it was made. Also after I got it, I found out the Ends had been cut down too. I did not know that either.
So I had bought a ready flawed piece and was upset with the seller. The Seller did (finally) offer me my money back -- but it sounded like they were going to relist it again. So I told them THAT I WILL KEEP it for that fact -- so it does not come on the market again. As nobody should be fooled again.
I still have it here -- it is my learning piece, but also the fact I kept it SO it can never be sold to another unknowing Glass Person. That was MY choice to do -- rather than return it.

====================
P.S -- It is a Fratelli Toso Art glass bowl with the label................but lots of problems /damage they did not tell or list it, or showed pics of those problems..........
Psychedelic!!!
We've all had this happen to us Rosie... it's part of the learning curve. Thanks for sharing.
Great education for a lot of new glass collectors, so many altered pieces out there and many are not detectable to the untrained eye. Great story Rose.
Your information, knowledge and kindness is amazing. I will keep this in mind forever! So sorry this happened to you.
Just wondering if you can share the seller on here so the rest of us can avoid it.
Thanks Rose.
Thanks for the ~ LOVES ~
DecoVoo --> So True. Live and learn. They made sure they had posted no angles that showed the damage -- and I should have asked for more. LIFE sometimes deals us curves in the Collecting field!!
Rick55 --> Thank you Rick. Yes, it happens to us all. As the saying goes "Buyer Beware". Again I made sure I kept this -- just so it would never be on the market by them again. It trip stops here... and I think this show none of us are above anyone else when it comes to getting something it is not.

...@ OneGoodFind -- Thanks for the comment. This happened a few years ago and I do not remember there name. Even IF I did -- I would NOT post it anywhere. I gave them a piece of my mind via emails. I am sure they had little *brown spots* in their pants.....LOL. I wanted my money back, but when it sounded like once they got it back, they were going to re-list it -- I SAID NO WAY as colorful as you can image!!!! I will keep it here -- it will never be sold again.
~ `~ It is a learning /training piece /memory for me.
A life lesson -- that sits on my shelf here.....LOL
Good on you for not sending it back because the same thing would have happened again.. and the next person might not have had the balls you've got!..
And!!! good on you for sharing this with us....YES! it does happens to all of us..and! more than once..but! it is a good learning exerciser , although it might not feel like it at the time....
A beautiful piece of glass is still a beautiful piece of glass, just in a slightly different form than it started life out as.....:-)
lol......or another way to look at it -- I put it into RETIREMENT....lol
Yes, sounded like they were going to advertise it again.....so the Experience stopped with me!! End-of-the-line for it!!
Much respect Rose. You go girl!!
The never ending quest for knowledge continues. In trying to ID my similar patterned bowl, I found this one, intact, and with quite the healhy price tag. In the listing it is referred to as a, "Starry Night Bowl". I will include the Ebay listing on the next line so Rose can delete it when she wants, as it is a temporary link that will last only as long as the seller keeps it active.
