A customer found this trammel set at a flea market several years ago, not knowing what it was. I know that the trammel is a starett, and know what most the parts are except the lucite (??) tapered discs with points. Any one know for certain what these were used for ?? (Have a lot of possibilities but no one seems to know positively)
Help, it is driving me crazy !!
I simply "Binged" "trammel set" & Starett-trammels was at the top of the list. I suggest you try it.
As I stated in my post, I know what everything is and even the model of the trammel, except the strange lucite tapered discs (guides?) the clear ones in the picture. If you have any other suggestions would appreciate ! P.S. I did bing trammel set and found nothing relating to lucite discs.
The Lucite plugs are for finding the precise center of a hole , then the trammel is used to measure from point to point. no ?
Good guess, I thought of that also but not certain its the answer, and if so what type of work ?? Pattern making ? Thanks for the comment
I believe slackjack is correct. The box looks homemade and so do the lucite plugs. Pretty sure this was a standard trammel set adapted for that purpose.
