I bought this bike from the original owner, who was in his mid eighties at the time. The bike is all original as he had it with the exception of the tires, which I replaced. The bike is drivable.
I got the owners bike registration for the town of Milton, MA from the early 40's with the bike. (that I'm searching the house for now)
I've tried to find out something about it on the web, but have found very little... I've heard Mike lusting for bikes from this period and hoped he might know something about this bike.
Thanks for taking a look, Sean Sweeney
A beautiful old Schwinn!
Check out this site. It might help you dial in that production date a bit... http://www.angelfire.com/rant/allday101/IDFACTS.html This next link explains the Henderson name... http://books.google.com/books?id=5pxCOkHLEdwC&pg=PA12&dq=schwinn+henderson+bicycle&hl=en&ei=HzGbTe7POJDqgQfknvCgBw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CEwQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q=schwinn%20henderson%20bicycle&f=false
How much for the dog?
This particular bicycle is a wholesale-distributor model. The name "Henderson" means absolutely nothing and was just what this particular W-D decided to use. There were hundreds of names to choose from on Schwinn-built bicycles back then and certain W-D's sometimes had their own names or specified certain names. It also appears that someone has added a Cleveland Welding Co. rear carrier. If you look closely, you will note that the color varies from the rest of the bicycle. NBHAA.com has this bicycle in original catalogues.
