I bought this as a present for one of my nephews who likes antiques (for purists old stuff). Not sure if the clock works but the radio does. I can even get some stations up here on the mountain. Works better than any of my other old radios. The electronics in this are just a bit smaller than the radios of the 1930s but the case is much smaller. The radios of the 1930s are mostly empty space.
The case on this one is Bakelite with a faux woodgrain finish. Sadly it is missing the knobs for the clock but metal stems are there.

Since you still have the metal stems for the knobs, you might want to try scavenging through an auto junk yard. I did that once, a long time ago in the early '70's, and found a couple of nice knobs for a desktop radio from the late '50's my dad still had then (can't remember its name, though).

Missing knobs are part of the present for people who love old stuff. Fun for me is to find that missing part or to make something work again after 80, 90 years. Nice present and a great post.
