I don't know anything about these pieces, except that she's very beautiful. i found these at an amazing yard sale i found today. I got a whole bunch of cool things. This is one. What are these pieces called? This one is signed 'Rose' on the bottom.
The only thing I know about her is she is really and truly BEAUTIFUL!!!!
thank you jscott! i agree!
She is amazing.
Do you think she may have been (skillfully) hobby painted by Rose?
Very beautiful! I would suspect same as Karen, whoever created this is a talented painter. :)
Pretty....She looks similar to the one I have Ho2...it's signed Marwal Ind Inc.

It's got an Alexander Backer look to it .... but not chalk ware .... It's slip cast, no?
yes, slip cast. thanks vetraio. i'll look up alexander backer now...
From what I can see, the first link posted by vetra shows the very same woman. The mold looks to be exactly the same as yours, right down to the folds in the scarf and the crease of the part in the hairline. Yours is much, much prettier.
thanks Efes! i agree.
i'm pretty certain that this was a cast which got re-used and spread about, but was glazed, painted by many different people over the years. this one seems to have been painted by someone who is VERY good, and as Kevin says, modeled theirs after Alexander Backer. that's my conclusion. and i'm happy because the piece stands on it's own - with or without any particular artist attached to it.
