    (1017 items)

I have had this for quite a few years. Bought from a thrift shop. I have searched for this item and the marks underneath, but have come up empty. Not sure if the marks are right side up. An Image search gives me faucets - lol! A search of a blue lusterware cat trinket dish also gives me nothing. Maybe it's not a cat....?

    Thanks for any help!

eye4beauty...there's an interesting thought....I tried that just now and got bupkus. Looking at the second photo, I see what appears to be a tail curving upwards.

What in the wide wide world of sports is that creature??? LOL, Bonnie. you got yourself some kind of sea monster there! ;)
    11. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 9 years ago
LMAO @ katherine! I haven't the faintest idea what that is...and I've spent a good part of this time trying to figure it out. Every now and then I have a look on the web, hoping to find something - anything! I don't know what the mark is on the bottom, either. I thought initials. Tried searching with that and zippity doo da...nothin'!

The Loch Ness monster? But I think that would be longer and more slithery.
    13. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 9 years ago
Hahaha@ Gillian! I wonder if you could be right....I've not seen anything like this before or since. I just love it because it's so weird.

I think it is a Ming Dynasty Slug Naiad from middle ages Lithuanian, made in Durban.

I love the finish on this Bonnie! Could it be a stylized cat? Obviously it has a long tail, so what else could it be than some type of cat?
    23. Efesgirl Efesgirl, 9 years ago
Rick55 - that's what I thought, too....a very strange thing, but beautiful. I wish I could find out something about it. Any ideas about that mark? Is it even right side up? LOL

      What are the dimensions.

It looks like one of those Japanese figurines that have something to do with sex. I'm surprised Karen didn't see that...probably because they are not made out of this material on the norm...but there really is nothing normal about that creature!!!hahaha Gave everyone a good laugh ;)

Turn the 4th picture of the bottom mark around. It's upside down. It is 2 (Cyrillic) Russian Alphabet letters. Similar to the initials LB (the 11th and 2nd letter of this alphabet, Pronounced "L" as in like and "B" as in Bit. Google and you will see it exactly. The "Cap" on the "b" gives it away. However, it will be tough to source this Russian piece. It may be Czech made from the time as they were prolific potters in this and other styles. But immigrants bring their favorite items over then they get passed down and given away when they pass. Good find!
