    This furnace is still in my basement and the supply duct from my forced air natural gas furnace still runs through it. I think that it was originally a coal burning furnace. It is supposed to still work as a wood burner, although I have not tried it yet. The black bulge on the side appears to be a water tank that would work as an evaporation humidifier. The bottom section of this one is blocked off, I'm not sure why or when. My house was built in 1941 and I have found ads for this furnace in newspapers from 1941 on Google. I like having this cool piece of history that is still somewhat functional in my house.
