Great piece of literature have you read it. Does it cover advertising methods, restrictions, sales outside the US. Trying to gain more knowledge is a lifelong journey.

Hi, Caperkid, thanks for the love and for your questions. For a small publication, it does cover a lot of the things that you mentioned. A lot is dedicated to the history of tobacco in The Americas, and there is also a wealth of advertising material presented.

The restrictions, especially through taxes, shows how the industry was affected. For example, 5 cent cigars, very popular around the turn of the 20th Century, became taxed so much that they could not be produced any longer, thus the birth of the cigarette, which also had an up and down history. There is not much mention of foreign sales, but there is reference to the importance of Turkish tobaccos in American's products. And there are descriptions of the production processes of 1964.

Thus, again for its size, this is really an informative item. It does whet the appetite for research into tobacco's history and influence in the world.

Thanks again, and I hope that this reply helps you. Feel free to contact me with any further questions.

And yes, we should never cease our quests for knowledge……

I really love this and would love browse thru the book. My family raised a lot of burley tobacco when I was growing up here I Kentucky. I can honestly say that I don't really miss that too terribly bad. Hard work and little pay!!

Hi, jscott363, and thanks for your love and for your comments.

It is an interesting book, and I'm sure that with your experience, it would be most appealing to you. I saw an earlier version from the ATC, issued for, if I recall correctly the 1939 NY World's Fair, which was very interesting also. I was outbid on that item though.

Again, thanks for your input, and let me know if you have further interest in this book, or any other questions regarding it.

A tidbit fro the publication re: Burley (which I think that through your experience may be aware of) is that Bright and Burley Tobaccos comprise(d) the bulk of a cigarette's mass.

      Take care, Ted.
