I found this in an antique store, cheap. I had to save it since the dealer didn't know it was MacArthur. It seems to be a propaganda piece of MacArthur in his Class A uniform, no pipe. It seems to be Korean War era. There is a difficult signature that seems to be G. Franklin Witmack. I have searched the Internet for a similar item, or an illustrator, the only illustrator close in name is Edgar Franklin Wittmack, but I haven't found a piece like this. The bust is about 23" tall by about 19" wide.
I would like to know any info on this from the wonderful people here!

Neat piece-- looks to have been cut down from something much bigger.

      Anything on the back?

I like the image, but I am not a fan of Mac!

i am not convinced it was cut down, it is very smooth and follows the contour better than any cut down that I have seen as well as the unusual location of the illustrators name being printed under the ribbons, tells me that location was planned to be at the bottom. There are no markings on the cardboard back. I appreciate your feedback, as usual, Scott. MacArthur was a larger than life personality, as a history teacher, having this larger than life piece can help bring periods of history to life for the kids.

Guess I was wrong on the size. The bottom edge gave me the impression that it was cut.

Agree-- a larger than life MacArthur certainly should aid in keeping the kids interested!

I think I may be able to date the image. MacArthur is shown with the medal of honor ribbon which he was awarded in 1942, but he's shown as a four star general, and he was promoted to five star general in 1944.

Thank you Chrisnp! I was confused because it is in such good condition for dating to the end of WWII!
