Hi, Sorry for the glare, but, they were sealed well when I had them put on acid-free backing. Bought them knowing they were badly faded and that the borders had been cut off to fit the frames (those terrible 1960's!).
However, I was told that one of the tax chops stopped being used very close to when this would have been done. Plus, his publisher signed one twice, with the Bay Leaf and the top glyph in the box. Plus the green grass is less that perfect. These all lead me to believe that these are galley prints, made with his supervision and maybe that makes them worth something despite the condition problems.
The are really nice, with some embossing on the non-colored parts of the clothes. Is it me, or, is there a sexual motif here? The opening folds of the kimonos and the forward thrust of the man's leg all seem suggestive. Or am I a DOM? 8-)
