This was made by All American in the 1950's. It has a die-cast cab and steel frame. The horn steers the front wheels.
Big 1/12 scale, measuring about 20 inches long
Not perfect but too good to restore.
This is from their web site.
Sixty-eight years ago, the All American Toy Company of Salem, Oregon started casting toy trucks, 1/12th scale and made of die cast aluminum with steel frames and rubber tires. These trucks were not only handsome, they were rugged. Built with a unique air horn steering system, these trucks gave endless hours of fun. They drove forward, backward and around corners just like a real truck.
The company succumbed to lower priced toys in 1956. The cracked & fatigued dies remained unused until May of 1992, when Patrick Russell of Salem purchased the company and revived the old dies. The company is now building limited editions of this famous old toy truck.
Really really nice to see these old die cast toys in such wonderful condition and in the right persons' hands. Your collection is incredible!!!!
Great truck AZTom. was just checking out one of the newer ltd edition units. But new doesn't work for me, love the old with a few nicks etc. Vintage means it was loved and enjoyed by someone.
Lol, I have looked at those a few times, but for the money I would rather have the old ones as well.
Thanks for the kind comments.
Thanks for all the loves.
Cool piece. Don't see many die cast that large.
