    Hello everyone,

I acquired this lamp a few weeks ago and I am trying to figure out who the manufacturer is... the name on the base is not legible.

    The base reads:
    "Design Patent Apr For"
    "unknown Co Chicago"

Anyone know how I might find out?

    Thank you!

I googled oil lamp mfgrs. chicago
      - this may be something or nothing - 3rd para of above reads:
" Within a year Victor Johnson moved to Chicago Illinois to form the Mantle Lamp Company of America. In 1908 he filed the incorporation papers and applied for the trademark name "Aladdin". When Victor Johnson moved to Chicago it appears that his exclusive license to sell Practicus lamps in Minnesota may have been transferred to the Minnesota Trading Company who had been selling Felbollin mantle lamps. Victor Johnson evidently secured a different licensing agreement with the Connecticut Trading Company allowing him a larger sales region for Practicus mantle lamps under his new company name." It's a long article which I haven't finished reading yet. Your lamp is a lot more ornate than the ones shown in beginning of my link. Is there a switch like turner that turns the wick up and down. Usually has a serrated edge. Does it say anything on it?

lol Thank you, it is a good day for laundry...

There is no switch but there is a pull chain... I have looked it over and cannot find any additional markings.

I have been looking at different manufactures pictures and cannot seem to pin it down.

I will get a better picture of the entire lamp, maybe that will help.
