This is RARE. Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co, circa 1902, in 15ct gold, mother of pearl, and with a little natural pearl drop.
I've previously seen this Archibald Knox design as a brooch, and in the 2nd pic you can see brooch variations in boulder opal, moonstone and amethyst, courtesy of Tadema Gallery and the archibaldknoxsociety.com jewellery archive.
However until now I never knew that a pendant variant existed.
It's fantastic to see the original detail of the bale (suspension loop) as Archibald Knox conceived it.
This piece is unmarked, however no marks are needed. It's a signature piece, with a Celtic influenced interlace that's a prime example of Knox's superb modernist designs.
Thank you Santa, we'll be leaving out some extra treats for you and the reindeer!
PS. The size is of the pendant is 36mm top to bottom x 17.3mm wide.
Lovely piece Paul, and great information as usually.
Sorry meant usual :-(
