Dug Pocket Watch (?)

Besides collecting old clocks, another hobby of mine is metal detecting.

It happens that I came upon what I believe to be the remains of a pocket watch.

Without giving away the location, it was discovered on private property with permission from the land owner in Tennessee.

The land holds the remains of a small camp about half a mile from a Confederate and then later Union Fort. My friend and I have discovered many relics along with bullets, buckles, and cannon balls in the same area this mystery piece came from.

If anyone is able to shed any light on what perhaps this could have been that would be much appreciated.
