had this chinese carved doll for ages given to me by my mother in law, keeping it, in my opinion, as a beautiful work of art. then went stroling through second hand stores yesterday and low and behold I found her partner, with exactly the same hand carved marking. now my curiosity is tickled and I was wondering what the history of these two beautiful figurines may be. ive also included a pic of what looks like the artist's 'signature', if anyone has any info?

They are a cast resin maybe a little carving to them to make them look hand carved. But you can tell they are cast resin by looking at the edges you will see little balls which you can see in the 3rd picture also if look at at the edges of the clothes you see little round holes that is from air bubbles that formed when they were poured. As for the artist mark I can't find a matching or similar Chinese or Japanese character. Could just be a made up to look like a mark. As to age wise probable close to when you got the first one.
