Randsfjord Norway Clear Glass Herring Jar by Benny Motzfeldt

This is a Randsfjord Norway Glass Herring Jar, by Benny Motzfeldt circa 1960s-70s.This jar still has its original Ransfjord paper label on the base and features a cut and polished pontil.

Benny Anette Motzfeldt (née Berg Nilssen; 26 June 1909 – 24 November 1995) was a Norwegian visual artist and glass designer and sculptor. Enjoy!

Lucky the sticker was on it DJ!
I rarely see work by Benny Motzfeldt and what I have seen has been unusual...he had his own style. I like it!

Thanks Racer! I'd been watching this piece for a few months at a local Consignment shop and finally made them an offer. I love it.

You got a beautiful jar there! Just wanted to add that he is a she - Benny was a woman :)

I have an identical jar which I purchased in Oslo, Norway in 1981. I have the "sticker" with the artist's name and the name of the shop. I paid about $30 for it and I think it's beautiful. It's been in my curio cabinet since that time and I have a typed note which is rolled up and inserted in the "vase" as I call it. I tell of Benny Motzfeldt and I've told my family - "Please don't sell it at a garage sale or I'll come back to haunt you!" I was doing a search on Internet to see what it might be worth now. I as thrilled to find a photo of the twin to my vase!
