I hope that someone could help in identifying this item.
There are no mfg marks or names visible.
The wreath on top is a combination of two leaf patterns.
There are eight roses on the frame and eight brass garnishes on the base.
I have spent many hours searching for clues when I came across this site.

You just need to slightly edit them.
Note that the guy has only one epaulette on the left shoulder: a Lieutenant ?? A Purser ??

A 'Bouillotte Lamp', I think ... though without shade(s).
Furniture: a table lamp of the 18th century, having two or three adjustable candle brackets and a common shade sliding on a central shaft.

I use IPad too. Edit each of your pix .... Just slightly. Go to Photos and use Edit ... I just move a corner slightly. Then return to CW and delete the picture and save. You will the be able to add a new photo that will be right way up. It takes a bit of practice.

I consider it rescued. It belonged to a friend of the family. It was her great grandmothers. I purchased the item to help her out and I recognized that there was something special about it. May be a stretch but if it is truly unique perhaps it may belong in a musem
Think I agree with the museum idea. I donate things to our museums here when I figure that an item would be more appreciated by the public, rather than just me & a few friends. Of course you have to question how it will be displayed safely. Kids can destroy an Abrams tank faster than ISIS (or what ever they are called this week).
That is so true. There are not many museums featuring Federalist period (I am guessing) here in Alabama. I would hope to be able to understand its history and meaning if any i.e. Maybe a commerative piece or turn of the century reproduction to find the appropriate home.
Ah, Alabama! My home state on Uncle Sambo's Plantation. Lived in Montgomery for some yrs.. Offered to loan my Civil War field gun (see my previous poste on CW) to the State Archives. We were going to display it in the lobby, but it wouldn't fit thru the double doors without disassembling. Next,they wanted to put it out on the lawn!! That's when I withdrew my offer. Totally restored wooden cannon carriage, & I'm going to leave it on their lawn for kids to carve on! I've worked with the AL State Archives before & can't say there! Depends on how they promise to secure it. Kids have no respect for history anymore & will needlessly screw-up anything that doesn't have a screen & buttons. Sorry state of affairs! What part of AL? I'm originally from Anniston but went thru aviation school in Ozark & lived in Montgomery for (?) yrs..
I am in Birmingham. Mothers side is from Montgomery. I lived in Capitol Heights area for a while. Your field gun sounds great. I agree with you that some kids have no respect for history. I am reminded often by my 90 year old father of his 3 mile walk to and from school feeding up before and after. No clue what an outhouse is like in the winter. My children grown now never understood why we had old broken and chipped furniture until they started furnishing their own homes. I was made to walk to grade school and raised by switch and razor strap and am grateful. Today you would go missing or be put in jail. Sad commentary but I digress.
Just being honest, & not many people can do that. I never walked more than, maybe 5 blocks to school, (but remember being repeatedly being told about it) LOL! Never used an outhouse either. You get descriptive! I have selective memory & haven't lived in the States for 42-43 yrs. Nice swapping stories though! LOL! Keep in touch.
