This radio was made only a few years after commercial radio was born. Back in those days, you selected your radio (the box with the large dials), and then decided which speaker to buy for it; in this case an art deco styled scene of two dancing ladies. The radio requires a decent outdoor antenna and is a little tricky to tune as you need to adjust all three of the large dials to get a station. These radios ran on a set of batteries as many places outside the main metropolitan areas didn’t have power. The set of batteries usually consisted of two or three different types to cater for the various voltages required to drive the circuit, including a 90 volt battery to power the valves (or tubes). This radio still works beautifully today, 90 years after it was made.
