There is an interesting story behind this find. It ended up being one of a bunch of items in a bin I obtained from an auction last year. I didn't really think anything of it and I am not a collector of these sorts of things. So I end up doing some research on it and decided to part ways to use the money towards some other items I wanted in my collection.
So how much do you think this red steel man is worth?? I ended up selling it for $360.00!! Apparently if it had not been repainted it would have been worth $1000.00 or more!! The reason is the Hubley motorcycle that this goes with typically has a police rider. So it is scarce to find a common man as a rider on this toy.
So I am not telling you this story to shine light on myself. I am telling this story to make sure all of you keep your eyes open for things like this!!! Old steel toys or parts of toys can be very collectable and valuable. Whether you are a collector of these sorts of items or not the information is priceless. So I call this guy " The $360.00 Man". : )
Class dismissed!!! (This last part should be read with the song Hot For Teacher playing in the background by Van Halen...if you have heard it...you know what I mean.... : ) )
Nice pick $360.00 Man! :-)
