I discovered this lamp in my attic a few years ago. The lamp had apparently been up there for at least a dozen years or more. It does not have country of manufacture or any other markings except: (1) highly stylized letter M cast on bottom of brass base; and (2) same stylized M in a blue circle next to a black signature I can't read. Signature begins with Mc...g....mi???? Does anyone recognize this signature or style? Other details: appears to be porcelain with a brass base. It actually sort of has two bases: the porcelain body is held up by 4 or 5 brass balls on top of a faux marble base on top of a brass base. I call it the Christmas Cactus lamp because that is what the leaves on it reminds me of. Thanks for your help.

Looks expensive. Reminds me of a hot air balloon.

Celiene, thanks for comments. Sorry but these are the best of a dozen or so pictures I took with 2 different cameras. If I can get better pics, I will post them. Thanks, again.

I was finally able to make out what I though was a signature on my lamp. It is "mcmgcmi". I found some porcelain figurines on auction sites bearing this designation and the same stylized M that is on my lamp. All that I have been able to uncover so far is that MCMGCMI Porcellane D'arte was probably made in Italy during latter half of 20th century. Does anyone know any more about this porcelain?

Thank you Antiquerose, that is the mark. My lamp just has the stylized M and stylized Mangani, the porcellane d'arte is omitted. I have emailed the Mangani company for some help in dating the lamp. I appreciate your help.

      Those are EXPENSIVE!

Celiene, thank you for following my lamp search from the beginning and your compliments on the lamp as well. I haven't heard from the Mangani company yet. I did some research but I have only found a few of these lamps. Not sure if I have one of the expensive originals or a mass produced copy. If you run across any more about these lamps, especially one like mine, I would greatly appreciate hearing about it. Thanks again.

Clearly that is NOT a cheap imitation! And it looks like each lamp is made on spec. They do not appear to be sold in mass quantities in retail outlets. And even in their catalogue, they don't list prices. It looks like your model is an older form, because it is not in the current catalogue. It reminds me of a hot air balloon!

You would not have heard from them over Christmas! Hopefully you will soon - let us know!
