It is 1 1/4 inches at the end that opens. The slide in the center opens and closes the end. It is made of metal and beautifully decorated. The opposite end has a loop which makes one think that it hung on a chain. There is no mark.

Not entirely convinced, though. There is that weird middle section. Need more pics. Any marks? Looks to be stamped metal.
