I want to share what I have about our Leaded Glass Fountain, with the hope of learning more about it from other viewer and collectors. We are not sure if it is actually a soda fountain or other type of spigot or bar tap. Our knowledge of it begins in a small town drug store in Kansas, it was moved from Kansas to a small drug store in Christian County Missouri many years ago. We do not believe it was displayed in the Sparta Missouri Drug Store but stored in the owners home instead. We acquired it at the family auction about 1983. It has two matching side lamps, the knobs on the spigots appear to be alabaster. The pedestal base is 8" across the top, the bottom in 9 1/2" across, and the base is 14" tall, total hgt. is 36". If anyone is willing to educate me about this item, I would appreciate it very much.

These peopel might know: There is a picture of a similar one.

"One-hundred sixteen years old, the 12-stool fountain includes a lamp on a short post of brass and marble topped with a genuine Tiffany lampshade. The fountain has been moved a few times, but it is a basic part of the Auburn Drug Company. It dates from James Gibson?s original drug store but in a later remodeling was sold to the old Sugar Plum Creamery. When the Sugar Plum went out of business, Henry Swanson bought the fountain back and had it installed in his new store, where it sits today. Generations have sat at the marble counter by the Tiffany lamp and sampled treats from phosphates to milk shakes to the store specialty, ?Irish Soda,? a house original."

It must have had soda dispensers under the counter to the taps. This one is called a Soda Fountain Tap Stand Lamp...

Yes, I think you are correct Celiene, it is hollow inside. We have a couple pieces of the marble bar top but it wasn't well kept. Thanks. When I get a chance I will review the link you sent.

Soda fountains and gourmet soda jerks are in a revival stage right now. You would sell that VERY well at auction! The New York Times did an article on the Ice Cream Parlor revolution recently. Here is the collector's society where you can probably get all the info you could possibly want or need...
