Beautiful Antique (?) Chinese Scroll Art Book with numerous original art displayed within the pages. Dimension of the book are 12.5 x 9 x 1.5. The exterior dose have some foxing but the artwork on the interior is in mint condition.
It's unique in that the pages of the book are constructed like the Accordion instrument ... all pages are continuous and open/view like a scroll ... though folded.
Everything is written in Chinese character (which I am unable to read) and all of the work is done by hand, with chop marks included.
The final page is information on the Artist ... (I believe).
I would love to know more on the Artist and age of this unique piece, but my schedule dose not allow time for a University trip ... Can anyone help???
The date is clearly written in Arabic numbers: 1952, May.
It's a collection of works by the famous painter Qi Baishi. Even though it is a reproduction, it is a fairly valuable one since it was done within his lifetime AND published by a VERY famous Antique Bookstore: Rong Baozhai in Beijing.
A very nice find.
thanks wma, it's great you can provide so much information. This site is lucky to have you.
Um. . . 700 for a small repro is pretty valuable to me.
For me, $855-$2850 is pretty "valuable."
