M551 Sheridan Light Tank Vietnam Version 1/35 Scale

This is another kit I modified using parts from an ACAV model. I added an armored commander's copula and an M60 machine gun with shield at the loader's hatch. These are based on photos from the period and not a fantasy piece.
One of the interesting and controversial points of the Sheridan was the 152mm main gun that could fire missiles or be used as a cannon. It is a rather huge gun for a tank this light. The missile function was rarely used did not work so well. The cannon had problems with the ammunition that need sorting out but did have quite a punch.
Based on the M113 armored personnel carrier it did a good job of replacing that. Not so much for replacing the 50 ton M45A3 tank seen in the last photo which could make its own roads and was impervious to the various RPGs and mines.
