Copper "oil torch" with ornate fluid (kerosene?) chamber (6 inch diameter). Overall height is 2 ft.. Horizontal portion of copper tubing, with control valve, is 8 inches to burner. From the control valve to the burner the copper tubing contains small charcoal like rocks isolated by fine mesh copper screens. Details about this type lamp are very difficult to find. Found this lamp in Brenham, Texas. but history is unknown. This unit has not been electrified. Battery powered candle has been placed in top of the burner mechanism.

I don't understand what part the rounded bowl shape plays? Surely that part is not able to lay flush against a brick wall?
      Thanks.

A hanging gas lamp. Used white gas or Coleman fuel. Yours is missing shade holder and shade, mantle and holder. Scan ebay for burner parts. Easy and cheap.

Gillian: The rounded bowl is the reservoir for the fuel. It has a float in the top to signal when the reservoir is almost full. Yes, the reservoir is half a sphear and fits flush against the wall.

Slackjack: Thanks for the information. I'll see what I can find on ebay.

Rustfarm: Would like to see a photo of your recently picked "oil lamp" and do you have any idea as to how it works?
