Oh, PAPPY1. Welcome to CyberAsylum, aka CW. I took a quick stroll thru some Celtic coins but didn't find your's . I have a silver Celtic coin that looks similar but close only counts in horseshoes & handgrenades .
PAPPY1, just took a stroll thru Greek coins & don't see anything close to that pattern & am sure it's not Roman. Just took a stroll thru Viking/Norse coins & still nothing close to this design. Rose, maybe it is alien? If so, they are way less developed than us in coinage! LOL! What area was this found?
blunderbuss2, The coin was given to me when I was around 11-12 years old by my Grandmother. I remember her saying that it was from Judaea I think. Don't know where she received it from.
If you had told me that, I could have strolled around that area.
Possibly have found my answer.......http://www.djrarecoins.com/product/pontius-pilate-bronze-prutah-ad-26-36-2/
Am I seeing it right? In the pictures the coin's devices & lettering seem to be incuse vs. raised.
