This plate is hand painted and glazed over what seems like a terracotta plate. It is heavy. There are no indications as to the artist so I am hoping someone can recognize the style, or work.

      is this tin-glazed or faience?
    2. mmt444, 9 years ago
Hi! I am not sure. Tin-glaze sounds closer. The plate is pretty thick and heavy, not thin and light like Porcelain or fine China.

Very interesting plate indeed ... Is it a Luster glaze ???

Isn't it beautiful? I am jot sure if it is Luster glaze. It is shiny but it's not quite opalescent. I think the tin-glaze fits the features more readily than the others. I am learning so much about all of this, it's really fascinating!
