    I believe these are both Tamiya models. The original M1 had 105mm main gun and has the woodland camo paint scheme. These were originally designed for war in eastern Europe. I added some material from a Tamiya customizing kit to the M1 mostly the cardboard MRE boxes. Looks like the M1A1 could use some extra details.
    The M1A1 has a larger 120mm main gun along with a few other changes such as a rear stowage basket. Currently the M1A2 with improved side armor is being used in the Middle East or was until recently.
    The last photo shows the WWII German Hunting Tiger probably the largest WWII production armored vehicle. As can be seen the Abrams is larger and the real thing has over a foot more frontal armor.

      There is a certain octagonal look of modern tanks' turrets. Something the Germans started, I believe. You have done a beautifal job with the paint job. Well done.
