Emptying the mothers house has given us some real gems, these two sweet jars are over 40 years old. They are in good condition and on the bottom it states Made in Italy G.H MCDONALD, now we have tried to look this up and again we are looking for the origins of these beautiful pieces.

Someone wiser than me said that if you go back to your original post, edit it and remove the photo, then put the photo(s) back in they should be the right side up.

Candy jars? Not knowing the size, I assumed they were soup tureens.

That green one sold in 2014. I assume McDonald is the previous owner. I don't pay for Worthpoint, so I don't know what it sold for. I just googled Capodimonte tureen mcdonald...

Looks like GH McDonald was a retail outlet? Here's another one in the UK.

"The backstamp has an 'N' with a crown and states 'Made in Italy for GH McDonald No. 178/9'. I believe the piece to date from the 1950s."

Here's another in the UK. Did a google search of just G.H. McDonald - a bunch came up. Look at the image results. There was a G.H. McDonald store in Granville, NY in the 1920's.

Here's his store circa 1909. Looks like G.H. McDonald was quite the dry goods entrepreneur. He was with Belk Bros. of NC in 1915. OK - I have to quit now, or I will be researching his entire life story!
