This was my grandmother's dresser and family legend has it that her father built it. She was born in 1889. Obviously the pulls are not original, and I wish to replace them, but I don't know what era it's originally from and would like to put something on the piece that would be somewhat true to the period.
I'd put it in the american furniture category. You need more info. Are the drawers dovetailed by hand or machine? Do you see any evidence of other pulls inside the drawers? Glass pulls were common for sanitary reasons, but generally in kitchens and lavatories - it hand made they could have been what was at hand.. Where did they live? Do you know the type of wood? The only identifiable thing I can see are the style of feet.
Lots of info: thanks. What style are the feet? I know the drawers are dovetailed, but can't tell you at this moment whether by hand or machine. I will get more photos. The only place I know my grandmother lived, before she married my grandfather was in Tremont, Illinois. I think the wood is walnut. Again, I'll do some more research, and let you know. Thanks.
