Our old chair

We've had this old chair for about 30 years and have always been curious as to it's identity. It seems pretty old, and has obviously been repaired numerous times with odd assortments of screws, nails and glue. I recently re-upholstered it and found that the tack edge was swiss cheese holey, so I know it's been done may times before. It is about 38" tall and 18" wide, has 4 coil springs and was padded with straw, horsehair, and cotton.
