Bought this Coca Cola sign at an auction in OH advertised as 1940's Coca Cola sign. Anybody out there explain the back of the sign and if it is indeed from 40's or earlier?

Certainly is from the 1940s, the cardboard carrier is a dead giveaway. Cool piece!
Yep, could even be late 30's. I haven't seen one this shape and construction. Is it a single sheet of metal?
Super cool Coca Cola sign.
Yes, it is one single sheet of metal. The hangers on the back are meant for sign to hung on a door?
Mounting brackets for hanging on just about any outer wall. It's definitely a mystery item. Nothing like it in the books. The carton image is featured on different size signs from the period. Could be a custom job.
I've consulted with our resident expert TGBWC and we conclude it's likely a cut down sign. One indication is the yellow within the carrier handle. That's part of the background that encircled the entire carrier in original state. It's not unusual to see outdoor signs cut down, many times edges are rusted away from age/exposure.

Welcome to CW:)
If it was not originally made like this shape, I think it was still made into this shape at the factory , likely St Thomas Metal signs, as the back is done similar to other factory made signs I've seen. They might have produced these smaller die cut signs for retailers that didn't have room for the large version.
There are many many signs that are exclusively Canadian made, and no info appears in any of the collector books on them.
Makes this one all the more unique and desirable to me, but not all collectors would agree because it's not listed in the major book s.
That's good stuff pickr, good to know.
