ceramic? and cloth bendable fireman and doctor

Hi, I would love to know if anyone could tell me more about these two chaps -such as their age or what they are made of or any info about their maker. They have an inscription K Johnson on the back but I can find no information able this person despite trawling the internet or any dolls that look similar. There is also what looks like a copyright symbol and one of them also has the number 29 on the back of the neck, close to the base of the head. I call them dolls as I do not think they were ever puppets/marionettes though I could be wrong about that. They have wire in the fabric legs which can bend but which needs to be bent manually. The bodies are also fabric. The feet/shoes appear to be ceramic but I cannot be sure whether the heads are ceramic or hard plastic or something in between the two. From my own judgement I would say they are a doctor/physician/surgeon and a fireman. There is glue on the head where bits are missing and possibly some clothing is also missing. Any help would be much appreciated. They are a charity shop find so I am pretty much in the dark about them. Many thanks for any info that can be given!
