I really get a kick out of some of these stallholders at the market. I was looking over the jewelry on the tables of an older woman, and she was busy telling me about this antique ring, that antique ring and the other antique ring. There was a ring display that held about 15 different rings which she said were all costume. She went on to tell me how she used to work in a jewelry store and how she knew what was what. I guess that's the reason she charged me $5.50 for this big silver ring (with 2 silver marks and a maker's mark).
It's not broken at the shank, but made that way to allow a bit of wiggle room for the finger. A perfect fit just as it is now. Don't know what that other mark is yet, next to the .835 stamp.
Thanks for looking, CW friends!
For sure, she knew her stuff :-)
Or she forgot about it just as here:

LOL, LOL!
Looks modernist to me...love it when sellers think they know their stuff and in fact, you end up buying an absolute bargain they know nothing about ;-) those buys are the best
@Newtimes - also looks modernist to me, too. I really have to squint at the mark net to the .835 to see what it is. One time it looks like an animal and another time it looks like a letter.....grrrr...
@kyra - this woman even told me that it will stay looking nice and won't change color...lolol~!! There was another silver ring on that display rod, too, but the band was too thin so I left it.
Kyra - That's a hoot, because I was going to mention a certain person here that always thinks they know what it is, has done no research..........etc. etc. Makes me crazy.
Gillian, why do you stir the proverbial pot? If that "certain person" makes you crazy, just don't look at their posts! You have no collection or posts at all, yet you are always commenting on other folks' stuff. Helpful or not, there are times you come off a little strong, sometimes even a little rude. Just curious, what is your purpose here? Just to solve mysteries? Which is fine, but could you at least play nice?
My Favourite Treasures,
I sincerely apologise to anyone here that I have been rude to, or who has been a victim to my holier than thou attitude. I admit I have a problem with speaking first, and checking with my brain afterwards. Forgive me.
I do comment a lot on other peoples posts. I do this to compensate for the absence of posts and photographs from me, and the truth that I feel badly about. May I say in my own defence, I do try to stay well away from commenting on items that I have not a jot of interest in, or that commenting on would only dig the hole I'm in now much, much bigger.
So, I think I've answered the majority of your concerns. I really know that my postings must be mucho boring, and I need help in that area.
For now, again please accept my apologies.
Gillian, no apology to me is necessary; in fact, I was just trying to find a way to delete my comment. This was not my place; my apologies to you as well as Effesgirl for sticking my nose in something that was none of my business. Apparently, the two of us have something in common LOL, speak first, check with brain later. Effesgirl, if you would be kind enough to delete all of this, I'd appreciate it. My apology to you for creating waves on your post.
@Gillian - if you have any interesting/favorite items in your home that you would like to share with us, please do!
Thank Efesgirl, I don't have a camera just an android phone. And I am trying to learn how to use it properly. All the best.
