Hello, I inherited a depression glass vase from my grandpa's farm. I would like to find out more about it. I am going to try using a black-light on it to see if its Vaseline. Anyone that knows or recognizes this piece please help! Thank you :-)
Tiffin #16255 Poppy Vase c1930s; not Vaseline as it is green but I don't know if it contains uranium or not.
Wow! Thank you :-) I have been online trying to figure it out. Seems pretty rare as I have never seen one at all the antique stores I have ever been too and I can't even find one online like this one.
they are not uncommon tho' fewer are found with paint; unfortunately the cold painting doesn't hold up too well and doesn't seem to command significantly higher bids.
Really? Where are they all? I have never seen one, not once in any antique store I have ever been too and I have been to many. When I google them nothing like mine comes up on the World Wide Web. Where have you seen these? Where can you find them? I would love to see more! Thanks again for responding :-)
Google images for the indications TallCakes gave, here they are ;-)
I googled it, and not 1 vase like mine came up. They are blue not green (if at all similar to mine) and some are short and don't look anything like mine. Am I doing something wrong I googled: Tiffin #16255 Poppy Vase c1930s, then I googled Tiffin Poppy Vase c1930s
Thanks to both of you for help!
try google: tiffin poppy vase
not saying that you will see one exactly the same paint and all, but in general the vases are not that rare, and paint doesn't seem to significantly affect value.
I tried googling that and see a few short unpainted versions of what I have. Can't find a single one like mine thats taller, even unpainted. Oh well! I am just glad to know what it is. It is so beautiful! Thanks so much for your help :-)
out of curiosity I check sold items of eBay an saw a couple of the tall green ones, which looks to be going for around the same as the other colors. They are nice vases and that's a great family heirloom. It looks like these do contain uranium to get the green color so should also look nice under black light.
Thank you Rucklezglass for writing :-) that is very interesting and I am just having the hardest time finding any vase just like mine. The shape and colors on mine seem to be very rare or extremely hard to locate! I inherited some unique items from my grandpa and it's nice to learn about them. Thanks again!
