After this beautiful round colorful micro-mosaic brooch was in my possession and immediately thought this setting would also be brass, I submitted a number of my micro mosaic brooches to an acid test. Now I should mention that each of them separately anyway have very fine tiles and are very beautiful. And all dated end 19th begin 20th century.
And what appeared to my far surprise the acid test (shown here on the fourth picture) they are all set in vermeil).
This brooch is 3 cm in diameter and has probably a makers mark PG. There are missing tesserae but all in all very fine and well executed.
Very beautiful
Très jolie collection! ;-)
