Pictured is just 5 goblets out of a 10 piece matching set in my collection. The heavy weight goblets are not marked or used. Each one is in pristine condition and have a fun etched polk-a-dot design (as seen in the pic) with complimentary etched banding around the top of each goblet.
I was told by my Mom that my Grandmother got them out of soap powder boxes when she was doing the laundry for Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh, Indiana.
My Grandmother would work in the laundry facility at the base during the day and in the evenings she would bring home all the top brass' laundry to do which is how she came to have so many. (my twin sister has a 10 piece matching set as well)
I do remember as a kid my Mom getting towels and wash cloths out of laundry soap boxes, but never dishes. (given my age, I'm pretty sure I missed that promotion *sigh*).
I have had a time of it trying to find information on soap powder dishes. Since my search began, I have managed to verify that in fact dishes were put in soap powder and a brand or two that participated in this promotion, but sadly that is all I have been able to find.
Again I ask if anyone out there in "Collectorland" might know of or have any information I can include along with the history of my collection I am putting together for my child, I would certainly appreciate it. Thank you!!!

Regarding the soap powder dishes: I also remember them. I believe my mom had some of them from the detergent Cheers (I think thats correct) as well as other detergents. I also remember the towels and such. My favorite is a milk glass style cereal bowl collection which I am still trying to locate.

Yes, back in the 50's and I believe part of the 60's there was glassware in some laundry detergents. I have a set of the silver leaf juice glasses. I don't know the detergent brand, though. I remember the excitement of digging the item out of the powder and hoping to collect a full set before the design changed or was discontinued. I also remember toys in breakfast cereal but don't remember any particular - didn't collect or keep any of them. I would like to find the value of the glasses I have but have not been able to do so.
